Conduct genetic research to understand the traits and characteristics of different vegetable varieties & wheat varieties.
Crossbreed different varieties of vegetables to create new hybrids with desirable traits.
Evaluate and select plants from breeding populations based on desired traits such as yield, disease resistance, duration and consumer preferences.
Evaluate and select vegetable germplasm for breeding purposes based on desired traits such as yield potential, disease resistance, quality attributes, and adaptation to different growing conditions.
Cross different vegetable varieties to create new hybrids with desirable traits.
Implement controlled pollination techniques to generate genetically diverse progeny for further evaluation and selection.
Conduct field trials to assess the performance of vegetable breeding lines under different environmental conditions for further advancement.
Incorporate resistance to biotic/ abiotic stresses such as drought, heat, salinity, fungal diseases, insect pests, in vegetable breeding programs.
Continuously work on improving specific traits in vegetable varieties through selective breeding for resistance to diseases, pests, and environmental stresses, as well as enhancing nutritional value and flavor.
