Responsibilities & Context

  • Cost Control: Monitor and reduce “Cost per Minute” and minimize wastage of fabric and consumables.

  • Efficiency Metrics: Track and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as:

  • DHU (Defects per Hundred Units)

  • EBITDA at the plant level

  • OTD (On-Time Delivery) percentage.

  • Resource Management: Manage budgets for labor, overtime, and machine maintenance.

  • Production Scheduling: Oversee the Master Production Schedule (MPS) to ensure all sewing lines are optimized and downtime is minimized.

  • Capacity Planning: Analyze factory capacity against incoming orders to determine if subcontracting is necessary or if additional shifts are required.

  • Lead Time Management: Manage the entire “Cut-to-Pack” process, ensuring woven garments which often require complex washing or finishing move through the facility without bottlenecks.

  • Technical Troubleshooting: Provide solutions for difficult woven constructions, such as specialized pocketing, collar setting, or seam sealing.

  • Machinery Innovation: Evaluate and recommend new sewing technology (e.g., automated pocket welters or template sewing) to reduce manual labor and improve precision

  • Quality Management Systems (QMS): Implement and oversee rigorous AQL (Acceptable Quality Level) standards at the end of sewing lines.

  • Compliance: Ensure the facility meets international social compliance standards (WRAP, BSCI, SEDEX) and buyer-specific ethical audits

  • WASH Coordination: Since many woven products require heavy processing, coordinate closely with the laundry/washing department to ensure shrinkage and shade continuity.
