Additional Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in relevant similar managerial position.
  • Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance within development or social enterprise sectors is preferred.
  • Prior experience using accounting systems such as Tally, SAP, QuickBooks, or any ERP software.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, advanced Excel and Word.
  • Excellent ability to handle financial data and reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and time management.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in both Bangla and English (written and spoken).

job summary:

This position will be responsible for managing the maintenance of the Book of Accounts, maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements, donor, and management reports. The incumbent will be responsible for all areas relating to financial reports, ensuring accountability & transparency, and will be involved with budget activities as well. The incumbent will be reporting to General Manager, Finance and Accounts.

Job Location: SHN Headquarters, Dhaka

Job Description:

  • Supervise the accounting cycle in accordance with GAAP, including preparation and documentation of journal entries, payment requests, and ledger reconciliations.
  • Ensure incurred costs are allowable, allocable, and reasonable per SHN policies and general accounting principles.
  • Review and approve accounting transactions and documents to ensure compliance and completeness.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting including projections, accruals, and donor reports.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements relative to budget and forecasting needs.
  • Lead the improvement of internal financial control systems, ensuring fund safeguards and policy compliance.
  • Ensure proper authorization, timely processing, and accuracy of payment/reimbursement requests.
  • Conduct and supervise internal audits of accounts payable/receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and petty cash.
  • Ensure submission of tax withholdings (payroll tax, deduction at source) and VAT reports to authorities.
  • Manage payroll processing and proper allocation to general ledger accounts.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors, address queries, and facilitate unqualified audit reports.
  • Review financial reports and donor agreements to ensure proper reporting and compliance.
  • Track financial budget variances and provide necessary support to General Manager, Finance.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, Income Tax Ordinance, VAT Act 1991, Companies Act 1994, and other relevant laws.
  • Lead and mentor team members to enhance their professional development through ongoing coaching and support.
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
