Job Purpose

  • To lead the development of architectural designs for BRAC’s construction projects that are contextually responsive, sustainable, and aligned with organizational goals. The position also supports interdisciplinary coordination, oversees execution from a design perspective, and contributes to project closure documentation through as-built validation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of conceptual and detailed architectural designs based on site conditions, user needs and organizational values – ensuring the functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability are addressed in all design solutions.
  • Conduct comprehensive site surveys and analyze topography, orientation, surroundings, and context prior to design initiation to ensure the solution effectively responds to site-specific opportunities and constraints, delivering context-sensitive and climate-responsive outcomes.
  • Incorporate sustainability principles such as passive design strategies, material efficiency, and water/energy optimization, while ensuring universal accessibility is embedded in all design proposals.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders and end users to capture project goals and spatial requirements and translate user needs into effective architectural programs, accurate design briefs and ensure stakeholder satisfaction throughout the design process.
  • Ensure all designs adhere to BRAC’s design philosophy, BNBC, local bylaws, and relevant international codes including safety, fire codes, and accessibility norms. Integrate environmental, accessibility, and safety standards into the design.

  • Specify appropriate materials and finishes aligned with the project’s budget, quality, and performance expectations. Provide detailed construction documents and architectural detailing as required.
  • Visit project sites periodically to monitor execution, assess adherence to the architectural intent, and resolve site-specific design or coordination issues. Provide technical guidance to project engineers.
  • Design documentation and version control by maintaining organized documentation of all design revisions, approvals, and coordination records. Ensure up-to-date documentation is shared with execution and procurement teams.
  • Support project closure by verifying and validating architectural as-built drawings submitted by the project team. Ensure alignment with executed work.
  • Contribute to knowledge management and team collaboration by working with architects, design units, and engineering teams, and participating in design reviews to improve design practices within the unit.
