Job Description

Education

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery(MBBS)
  • MBBS with MD in Cardiology /FCPS in Cardiology; Or MBBS with D-Card and at least 1 years of experience in cardiology dept. after completion of D-Card(For Specialist ) and MBBS with completed D-Card qualification (For Registrar).

Additional Job Responsibilities:

Adhere to hospital protocols for infection prevention and control, including but not limited to :

  • Hand hygiene.
  • Respiratory hygiene.
  • Aseptic precautions.
  • Prevention of accidental inoculation injuries, and Waste segregation.
  • Follow additional precautions for suspected/confirmed cases of infectious diseases as per hospital protocols for prevention and control of infections.
  • Implement and maintain other practices and protocols as per hospital policy.

Technical Competencies:

  • Record focused patient history, including an accurate list of medications used before admission.
  • Relate physical findings to the patient’s history for diagnosis and formulate a management plan in coordination with consultants.
  • Prescribe, review, and monitor appropriate therapeutic interventions relevant to clinical practice.

Behavioral Competencies:

  • Demonstrate respect and professionalism in accordance with good medical practice.
  • Work flexibly and deal with the tasks effectively and efficiently.
  • Remain calm in stressful and high-pressure situations and adopt a timely and rational approach.

Responsibilities & Context

  • Conduct daily inpatient rounds before the consultant’s visit and update case sheets and progress notes.

  • Provide adequate and appropriate treatment as advised by consultants.

  • Continuously monitor patient progress and adjust the management plan when necessary.

  • Order and ensure timely investigations as advised by consultants.

  • Coordinate cross-referrals and communicate opinions of other specialists to the primary consultant.

  • Check the medication dosages, frequency, and routes of administration, considering all precautions and do fresh orders for patients.

  • Educate patients and their families alongside the primary consultant.

  • Actively participate in departmental quality initiatives.

  • Attend clinical meetings, CME sessions, and workshops; participate in paper presentations.

  • Attend on-call duties and assess patients in the emergency department.

  • Assist consultants during all procedures, e.g., angiography, angioplasty.

  • Perform procedures such as central and peripheral venous access.

  • Perform diagnostic procedures including ECHO, ETT, and ECG reporting for outpatients.

  • Perform temporary pacemaker implantation in emergency situations to save and resuscitate the patients.

  • Manage all cardiac emergencies in the coronary care unit, critical care areas, and accident & emergency departments.

  • Oversee and guide the residents in the coronary care unit.

  • Work four (04) days per week (Day/Night), with 12-hour duty per day.
