- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery(MBBS)
- MBBS degree from a recognized medical institution (additional specialization in cardiology or diabetology preferred).

Responsibilities & Context
We are seeking a qualified MBBS doctor to join our underwriting team as a Medical Underwriter. This role requires strong expertise in cardiology and diabetology to assess, analyze, and underwrite life insurance applications across all business channels. The candidate will handle medical case evaluations with precision and strict adherence to underwriting guidelines, ensuring sound risk assessment.
In addition to underwriting duties, the position includes providing basic daily health check-ups for company employees as part of the organization’s wellness initiative.
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwriting Duties:
- Review and evaluate life insurance applications for all channels with a special focus on complex cardiac and diabetic cases with others.
- Interpret medical reports, diagnostic tests, and specialist opinions to make informed underwriting decisions.
- Apply company’s underwriting guidelines and reinsurance protocols to ensure consistent and fair decisions.
- Collaborate with non-medical underwriters to provide expert medical opinions and case reviews.
- Maintain proper documentation of medical underwriting decisions in the underwriting system.
- Medical Case Expertise:
- Handle high-risk medical cases with strict adherence to evidence-based risk assessment.
- Recommend additional medical tests or specialist evaluations when required.
- Provide training or briefing sessions for underwriting colleagues on medical risk trends and conditions.
- Employee Health & Wellness Support:
- Allocate a set time daily for basic health check-ups and medical consultations for employees.
- Advise employees on preventive healthcare measures, especially regarding heart health and diabetes.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics in all employee health matters.
- General Duties:
- Perform all regular underwriting functions in line with team requirements.
- Participate in departmental meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with insurance regulations, data protection, and company policies.
