Requirements

Education
  • Minimum Bachelor degree. Diploma in Medical Technology on Cardiac Perfusion/ Diploma in Medical Technology on Cardiology under The State Medical Faculty of Bangladesh (SMFB) will be preferred.
Additional Requirements
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience working as a Perfusionist in a established cardiac surgical setting.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and ability to operate complex medical equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
  • The post holder will be required to work shifts including evenings, nights and holidays and weekends , if necessary and to participate in a 24/7 on call roster.

Responsibilities & Context

Job Summary:

Bangladesh Specialized Hospital PLC (BSH) is looking for a skilled and dedicated Perfusionist to join our healthcare team. The Perfusionist will play a crucial role in assisting the cardiac surgical team during various types of both adult and paediatric cardiac surgeries. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating heart-lung machines and providing support to the surgical team in critical procedures.

Job Description:

  • Operate heart-lung machines and other equipment (eg. IABP, ECMO) used in cardiac surgeries.
  • Assist surgeons and the medical team in preparing for and during various types of cardiac surgeries.
  • Manage and maintain the extracorporeal circulation circuit including Canulas, ensuring proper functioning and integrity of all components.
  • Monitor and interpret physiological data, including blood gases, electrolytes, and coagulation studies, to assess the patient’s condition and make appropriate adjustments to the perfusion circuit.
  • Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of perfusion equipment, including troubleshooting when necessary.
  • Administer medications and blood products under the supervision of the surgical team.
  • Coordinate with the surgical team to ensure the smooth flow of operations during critical procedures.
  • Maintain records of perfusion activities and ensure the accuracy of documentation.
  • Assist in the training and development of junior perfusionists and other medical staff.
  • Follow safety, infection control, and regulatory guidelines to ensure the highest standard of patient care.
