Responsibilities & Context

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and nurturing Nursery Homeroom Teacher to join our early years department. The ideal candidate will be a patient educator who understands the foundational importance of early childhood development and can create a vibrant, safe, and stimulating classroom environment for our youngest learners.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Classroom Management: Serve as the primary lead for the Nursery homeroom, managing daily routines, transitions, and student well-being.

  • Curriculum Delivery: Implement an age-appropriate curriculum (Early Years Foundation Stage – EYFS) that fosters cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth.

  • Core Learning Areas

Literacy and Communication:

Phonics: Introducing letter sounds and basic letter recognition.

Storytelling & Vocabulary: Encouraging verbal expression, active listening, and developing early vocabulary through reading and rhyme.

Emergent Writing: Developing fine motor skills required for holding pencils and making marks.

Numeracy (Mathematics):

  • Number Sense: Counting objects, recognizing numerals, and understanding one-to-one correspondence.

  • Shapes and Patterns: Identifying 2D shapes, sorting items by attributes (color, size, shape), and creating simple patterns.

  • Measurement & Comparison: Understanding concepts of more/less, big/small, and heavy/light.

Understanding the World (Science & Social Studies):

  • Nature and Environment: Exploring the seasons, weather, plants, and animals.

  • Community: Discussing family roles, community helpers, and cultural celebrations.

  • Scientific Inquiry: Simple cause-and-effect experiments and sensory exploration.

Personal, Social, and Emotional Development (PSED):

  • Self-Regulation: Learning to manage emotions and follow classroom routines.

  • Social Skills: Developing empathy, sharing, turn-taking, and interacting positively with peers.

  • Independence: Encouraging self-care tasks like tidying up, hanging up coats, and basic hygiene.

  • Fine Motor Skills: Activities such as threading beads, using play dough, puzzles, and cutting with child-safe scissors.

Expressive Arts and Design:

  • Creative Arts: Painting, drawing, collage, and exploring textures.

  • Role Play: Imaginative play scenarios to practice social interaction.

  • Lesson Planning: Design engaging, play-based lesson plans that incorporate storytelling, arts and crafts, music, and sensory activities.

  • Student Assessment: Observe and track each child’s progress, maintaining detailed portfolios and providing regular updates to parents and leadership.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Coordinator of Early Years and Assistant Teachers to ensure a cohesive learning experience.

  • Environment: Maintain an organized, colorful, and inclusive classroom that inspires curiosity and discovery.

Requirements:

Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in English, Early Childhood Education, or a related discipline from a reputable university.

Experience:
Minimum of 2–3 years of teaching experience in a reputable English Medium or International school.

Language Skills:
Exceptional fluency in English (both written and spoken) is mandatory.

 

Core Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of child psychology and early developmental milestones.

  • Proficiency in modern teaching aids and basic classroom technology.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with parents and staff.

  • High level of patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for early years education.

Additional Requirements:

  • Candidates with professional certifications in EYFS or Montessori training will be given preference.

  • Priority will be given to the candidates with O level / A level

  • Cambridge curriculum experience preferred.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multicultural environment.
